Simply Learning to Trust

A guest post from Christine Becker.

Today I am trusting the Lord in several areas, and perhaps you are as well. I’m learning that trusting is an active choice. It requires patience, intentional praise, and constant transformation of my perspective (from what I see to what I hope for through Christ).

Simply Trusting the LordTrusting in the Lord always requires waiting in some form or fashion. Since I’m seeking to trust Him in a deeper way, it’s no surprise that I’m having to also learn to wait. Waiting produces patience, but it also breaks us away from our carnal expectations of how a scenario should unfold. And in the end, He still remains the One that gets all the glory. This makes me chuckle, because I still haven’t completely grasped it as of yet.

Trusting in the Lord always requires waiting in some form or fashion.

But I’m trying. Everyday I’m seeking His face, choosing to give Him all I have, and including Him in every decision. At the end, I’m guaranteed of victory, simply because I can live life with Jesus Christ, the coolest, most powerful, and smartest dude known to all mankind. Every single time we choose to take a risk and to trust Him, we win. Regardless of how everything pans out here on earth, we win because our choice to trust God has an eternal impact.

Life may not always unfold the way we expect, but praise be to God that it will turn out exactly the way He wants it (as we’re including Him in our lives). God is trustworthy, divine, and perfect. He sees me and He’s interested in my life, just as He is interested in you. Even though we can’t physically see Him, He always has our back. He’s looking out for us, even when we don’t know how to look out for ourselves, which brings me a lot of comfort. As I’m waiting for answers to prayer, the following scriptures have been popping off the pages towards my heart. May you also take refuge in His everlasting truths and promises today.

He’s looking out for us,
even when we don’t know how to look out for ourselves,
which brings me a lot of comfort.

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.” Isaiah 26:3-4

“O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.” Isaiah 25:1

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Isaiah 40:28-29

“Who has understood the mind of the Lord. or instructed him as his counselor?” Isaiah 40:13

“See the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.” Isaiah 42:9

“But, I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys.” Isaiah 41:17b-18

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
